MELODY & ROMANCE AT AN ENGLISH MANOR HOUSE - EDITORIAL
Allow your mind to wander to your perfect English country wedding, on a dreamy spring or summer’s day, and perhaps you’ll picture a manor house full of character, adorned with enchanting florals, and surrounded by ancient orchards.

With an ethereal allure, this fine art shoot took place at West Horsley Place, a Grade I listed medieval manor house and 380 acre estate, blessed with wonderfully romantic spaces, picturesque formal gardens, and ancient orchards.
The design concept drew upon the historic tales of the manor house from Tudor and Elizabethan times, the elaborate architecture, and the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Both Helen Warner’s and Kerry Bartlett’s fine art style suited the countryside aesthetic of the editorial, with the film photography capturing the light and styling details perfectly, creating the most timeless imagery.

Music and entertainment are woven into the history of West Horsley Place, with visits from both Henry VIII, famed for his lavish feasts, and also Queen Elizabeth, who was fêted by performers and musicians when she visited.
As Jessica from Ardour and Bow explains, “today, the house hosts weddings, but also operas and fabulous musical performances, so this seemed the perfect basis for the design concept. Using the history of the house, both past and present, as our inspiration, we brought together musical elements – a live cellist from Fendt Ensemble performing Bach’s Cello suite, and delectable dining treats from renowned caterers Rhubarb, to create a lavish, wondrous affair, all set against the backdrop of this stunning historic house.”
We combined these elements to create an elegant aesthetic, to transport you to the heart of the English countryside.
